I can do all things with God who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

What I am is a gift from God. What I become is my gift to God.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 23

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:16.

On Pimples and Acne

I am looking at the pictures that we have taken during the Filipino get-together in our flat last Thursday, which by the way is considered a weekend from where I am right now. The pictures captured the "happy" moments we had BUT as expected, it prominently displays the big pimple on my left cheek!

I have this pimple problem since time immemorial. It's not really the kind where pimples are scattered all over the face that you will be teased to be carrying a pimple with a face It is the kind where every month or so, a pimple or two will break out from the face, it will become big and swollen and it leaves dark scars on my face. Of course, I hate it! I tried everything.... I am now using Neutrogena to wash my face, and use Panics to make the pimples dry faster but the pimples keep coming back on a regular basis. I hope that in time, pimples will leave me alone.

Since the pimple is disturbing me, I tried to Google i found many information about it. I realized that I was wrong into believing that only teenagers get pimples. You see, I always complain that I shouldn't get pimples anymore coz I am not getting any younger. I hope this information will help me solve my problem and i hope that it will help those who will read this and who has the same problem as mine. Please read on:

General Acne / Pimples Information
Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when oil and dead skin cells get trapped in the pit of the hair follicle. Bacteria then begins to multiply and the area becomes inflamed producing pimples, blackheads and whiteheads on the face and upper body. Acne affects 80% of the population at some time between the age of 12 and 44, making it the most commonly treated skin condition. Although acne affects more than 20 million teenagers, it is appearing in adults in increasing numbers. Most acne cases are in the mild to moderate range, but severe acne can cause serious cosmetic problems, which often leads to emotional stress and low self-esteem.

Possible Causes of Acne / Pimples

  1. Sebum (oil) which normally drains to the surface of the skin gets blocked and bacteria begins to grow.
  2. Acne blemishes may be a message that something is wrong with your body's chemistry, diet or method of skin care.
  3. Acne may be caused by hormonal changes or hormonal imbalances, heredity, oily skin, monthly menstrual cycle, candidiasis, allergies, stress, and the use of certain drugs, such as birth control pills or steroids. Acne may also be caused by allergic reactions to foods or dairy, a nutritional deficiency or a diet high in saturated fats, hydrogenated fats and animal fats.
  4. Other causes may include environmental conditions and pollutants that can clog the skin pores. Low body pH levels foster the growth of bacteria that may cause acne to develop.
  5. Poor kidney and liver function may also play a role in acne development.

Possible Lifestyle Changes for Acne / Pimples

  1. A diet high in raw vegetables and fruits is beneficial. Avoid all forms of sugar, alcohol, butter, caffeine, cheese, chocolate, cocoa, cream, fat, fried foods, margarine, hydrogenated oils, soft drinks, iodized salt and processed foods. Sugar may impair immune function and promote the growth of bacteria and candida.
  2. The face should be kept free from oil by washing with an herbal cleanser or with lemon juice three times per day.
  3. Hair should be kept clean, as well.
  4. Friction makes pimples more likely to erupt, so not over-scrub or touch the affected area whenever possible.
  5. Avoid tight clothing and do not wear makeup whenever possible. When makeup must be worn, use water-based, hypoallergenic products without harsh chemicals, dyes or oils.
  6. Do not squeeze the spots as this may increase the growth and development of bacteria, worsening the condition and increasing the chance of scarring.
  7. Many dermatologists recommend 15 minutes of sunshine, regular exercise and sufficient sleep every day.

Kids' updates...

I was checking my email two days ago and suddenly received a chat invitation from my brother-in-law who is one of the people in-charge of taking care of my kids while Jun and I are far away working.

Incidentally, the kids went back to school on that day after their Christmas holidays. My brother-in-law told me that everything is fine and they already received the results of the kids' third periodical examinations. As expected, River and Rain got very good marks. In fact, both of them got the highest marks in some of their subjects. I was surprised to hear that Ash got the second highest mark in English! You see, Ashvin is only 5 years old and unlike his two siblings, he's not yet very serious about his studies. He has not taken the study habits of River and Rain yet, but I know that in time, he'll also excel in his class.

Being far away from the kids is a big sacrifice. But receiving good news regarding my kids gives me and Jun renewed spirit.
